Summary

Summary: A plant genus of the family RANUNCULACEAE. Members contain hellebrin (BUFANOLIDES). The extract is the basis of Boicil preparation used to treat rheumatism. The common name "black hellebore" is used for both VERATRUM NIGRUM and Helleborus niger.
